Croom Concrete have recently finished the supply of precast sea defence walls to BAM Construction for use in the Kilkee flood defence scheme. All precast walls have now all been delivered to site for both the southern and northern sections. A total of over 200 units were produced ranging in heights from 1.5m to 7m and weighing in excess of 8 tonnes.
The walls are part of a €2,000,000 flood defence scheme put in place by Clare County Council following the 2014 storms in Ireland. Key to this project was the tight delivery program put in place by Clare county council which hoped to ensure there was no disruption to the people visiting the busy beach in Kilkee. To ensure this the northern sections works were carried out between the periods of April and May 2015 and the works on the southern section been carried out in November and December 2015.
Jonathan Whelan who was project engineer for BAM construction was delighted with the service provided by Croom in both delivery and also the quick solution turn around that Croom offered when every a problem arose with the constant changing design program
